Description

Argentina is the second largest country in South America and has a wide range of different landscapes and climates. Visit the Missiones Rainforest, and gaze at the snow-capped mountains of the Andes mountain range and at the gigantic icebergs in Los Glaciares National Park. If you begin to miss the feeling of the city, go to Buenos Aires and learn to tango, eat amazing food, go shopping in Palermo, and hang out at the many nightclubs. Jews first came to Argentina as conversos from Spain who were trying to escape the Spanish Inquisition. When Argentina gained independence in 1810 more Jews immigrated to Argentina mainly from Western Europe. The Buenos Aires Jewish community was founded in 1862. Today, there are still many Jews in Argentina, which has one of the top ten highest populations of Jews in the world, and most live in Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and Rosario.
