Everyone wants to see the rich and famous. After all, spotting celebrities is probably one of the biggest draws to coming to Los Angeles in the first place. So where does one go to see their houses, albeit from afar? There are several tour companies to pick from. Even people who couldn’t care less about celebrities will appreciate the architecture and designs of the beautiful mansions shown on the tour.
Anyone familiar with TMZ (celebrity gossip brand) will appreciate the TMZ Tour. This is the opportunity to find out everything you ever wanted (or needed) to know about celebrities in two hours. Find out where celebrities party and see the hottest spots in Hollywood. The real fun of the tour is that the TMZ guides are ready to stop the bus at any moment to interview celebrities. Imagine being part of celebrity news! One of the best parts of the tour is the price—it’s only $49.
The Ultimate Dreams Homes Tour run by Another Side of Los Angeles Tours was created to give tourists an experience beyond the typical. What does it include? A tour of Rodeo Drive, Sunset Strip Homes, hotels and lots of celebrity homes. Don’t worry about being hot or uncomfortable; these tour buses or vans are air-conditioned. Some of the tours are personalized: One guest was a huge fan of “Glee,” and had an opportunity to see where the show films. At $250 for two hours, these tours are a bit pricey. But for an even more high-end experience— at $1996 for four people—you can be whisked away to the glamour of Los Angeles in a stretch limousine. Part of the fun of the tour is getting the backstories of celebrities and movies. Don't worry about getting hungry—the tour includes complimentary snacks and bottled water.
The Legends of Hollywood Tour gives passengers personal attention from Mark Morris, a tour guide with several years of experience. Travel in first-class style in a Mercedes Benz Sprinter with a 32” HDTV flat screen TV. The best part of the tour is that only 11 people can fit in the car so there’s less of a chance of sitting next to someone really annoying. Night tours are also available. One of the most unique parts of this tour is the multi-media aspect—watch scenes from a movie, see the locations they were filmed and listen to the soundtrack at the same time. For a private tour at just $159 an hour, 11 people can create their own itinerary.
Cheaper tours are also available. The Hollywood Double Decker Tour only costs about $38.95 and shows at least 45 celebrity stars homes. Free pick-up at hotels in Hollywood makes it even a better deal. It hits all the famous spots, including Grauman’s Chinese Theater, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Rodeo Drive and Sunset Drive.
