Stadium Showdown

When you visit Philadelphia, make sure to get tickets to one of the city’s renowned sports teams. The Eagles football team and the Flyers ice hockey team have each made it to championship games. Beautiful, state of the art stadiums and arenas have been built for each team, so your game time will be unforgettable.

In 2001, Veterans Stadium was demolished to make way for the Lincoln Financial Field, which hosts the Philadelphia Eagles football team. Over $500 million was used to create this three tiered, 67,594 seat arena. The stadium is hard to miss, with large flat screens displaying photos, upcoming events and images of sports stars along the perimeter. The Temple Owls, the Temple University football team, also uses this stadium to play their games. Lincoln Financial Field also hosts a variety of events, such as concerts, soccer games and firework displays. Philadelphia fans have been known to get rowdy enough that police had to build a four-cell jail underneath the stadium.

Across the parking lot, you will find the home of the Philadelphia Flyers ice hockey team, which is in the Wells Fargo Center. Formerly known as the Wachovia Center, this arena has hosted iconic performances by Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel as well events such as NCAA Championships, NBA and NHL All Star games and Stanley Cup finals. Current events hosted by the Wells Fargo Center include tapings of"American Idol," the Ringling Brothers Circus and performances by the Harlem Globetrotters. The seating, stage and floor change to suit each performance under the covered dome. Flat screens and scoreboards drop down from the center of the ceiling, assuring every patron that they can see the action live from any seat.

Citizens Bank Park hosts the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. The ballpark was built in 2004 after the Phillies spent 33 years at Veterans Stadium. Pick up a ticket and spend the afternoon in one of the 43,651 sapphire blue seats. For each home run, huge, 50-foot neon Liberty Bell lights up and rings out in celebration.

Purchase tickets to an Eagles or Flyers game online or sign up for season tickets, which are mailed to your home. No matter where you sit in each of these great arenas, an action-packed event is in store for you.
