The New Synagogue

The New Synagogue connects the past with the present. The synagogue that opened in 1866 was built to serve the growing Jewish population in Berlin; it could seat up to 3,000 and its size and Moorish dome reflected how full of life the area was. People used to come to the synagogue to hear public concerts. The Centrum Judaicum foundation located inside the synagogue aims to address the history of Jews in and around Berlin. The Center views itself as a bridge between East and West European Jewry, by formulating …More

Inside the Berlin Jewish Museum

From the moment a visitor sees The Jewish Museum in Berlin, he knows he's about to have a unique experience. The museum opened in 2001 but even before it opened, the empty building drew an unexpected number of visitors. The museum is actually a building complex composed of the Collegienhaus, a former courthouse built in the 18th century and the latest addition is the Libeskind Building, a post modern masterpiece created by Daniel Libeskind. The museum is extremely popular and has had a record high number of over …More

Winter shopping in Berlin

With the winter in mind we focus on the achievement of our dreams, take the cloaks of vintage cabinets, drink tea, organize our agendas and get back to wearing boots and scarves. We walk through the city finding innovative stores and cozy restaurants on every corner, lit by candles in each table and perfumed by the sweet smell of cakes (or Küchen, essential word for those visiting the city). The Best Food In Berlin

Berlin's culinary scene has traditionally lagged behind other European capitals and it's not hard to understand why. German food has never had the worldwide appeal of French, Italian and Spanish cuisine and Berlin doesn't have the ethnic diversity to sustain the number of international eateries available in London. However, with tourism to Berlin currently at an all time high, the last few years have seen a new wave of eating establishments opening-up all over the city. The German capital is now home to a number …More

Three Berlin Bars

O Tannenbaum If you can find the place that hides tidily behind a fractured glass door on Sonnenallee, you might be disappointed by not finding a Christmas tree in this Neukölln establishment. Don’t worry though, as you’ll certainly find many other surprising objects decorating the two small and often packed rooms: from a taxidermied deer to a broken television set, to often changing works of art made by the bar’s frequenters. Three Dutch artists who have made Berlin their home run O …More

Berlin Hotel Guide

One of the most enjoyable aspects of holidaying in Berlin is the sheer diversity of places to sleep. Whether you're looking for luxurious boutique guesthouses, five-star hotels, or eccentric themed hostels, Germany's increasingly trendy capital has all the bases covered.   The Berlin Wall may be long gone but communist nostalgia from the German Democratic Republic still does a roaring trade in the tourist districts of Berlin's East End. Ostel, housed in a foreboding Soviet Bloc-style tower, is a budget …More
