Description

Thailand is an independent country that lies in the heart of Southeast Asia. It is bordered to the north by Burma and Laos, to the east by Laos and Cambodia, to the south by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia, and to the west by the Andaman Sea and the southern extremity of Burma

Thailand is complex; it is fairly modern, but has still been able to maintain much of its cultural heritage. Nature lovers have an abundance of activities to choose from, including: trekking, kayaking, rafting, hiking, camping, riding elephants, swimming in crystal pools near waterfalls, and bicycling. There are bars, discos, and restaurants galore in all major cities. Thailand, a country that is 95% Buddhist, has always been a nation that stood for religious tolerance and as a result, Jewish settlers have always been welcomed to practice their own customs. Today, Thai Jewry numbers approximately 300 inhabitants and continues to grow. Most Jews in Thailand are of European and Asian origin.
