Biden's Future Jewish Son-In-Law is My Doctor

I have big fan of Vice President Joe Biden since I volunteered and donated to his ill-fated 1980 Presidential campaign. So you can imagine my happiness when I found out that his daughter, Ashley, was engaged to my doctor, Dr. Howard Krein. Dr. Krein is a very nice, thorough doctor. He is part of a big ear, nose and throat practice at Jefferson Hospital. My only complaint is that he kept me waiting over an hour and did not offer any apology when he did finally see me. The office is very automated probably due to …More

Israel Should Be a U.S. Campaign Issue

Pro-Israel organizations have long been active in American politics, promoting friendly relations between the U.S. and Israel. Jewish groups, in particular, have helped ensure that candidates' attitudes toward Israel would be an important element in congressional and presidential elections. Yet now, two venerable Jewish organizations, the American Jewish Committee (AJC) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), are saying that it is improper to do this in the case of President Obama. They have taken the initiative to …More

Montel Williams Supports Israel’s Medical Marijuana Policy

Emmy Award-winning television personality Montel Williams is impressed with Israel’s policies towards medical marijuana, and thinks that America should follow in its ally’s footsteps. The host of “The Montel Williams Show” was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999 and has been an outspoken advocate of medical marijuana ever since. Williams was in Israel on Sunday on a fact-finding mission to learn about the country’s medical cannabis policies. He met with legislators, scientists …More

This show is “the most disturbing thing I’ve ever watched,” Eli Roth told the New York Times. Coming from the principal horror filmmaker working in Hollywood today, that is no small compliment. Eli Roth hosted “How Evil Are You?” for the Discovery Channel as part of their “Curiosity” series on Sunday. To examine the nature of evil, the show recreated the infamous Milgram obedience experiment from 50 years ago, to much the same effect. Roth has always been fascinated by …More

Amy Winehouse's New Album to be Released Posthumously

A new album from Amy Winehouse will be released months after her death, hitting stores in time for Christmas. A handful of journalists listened to the 12 track record, entitled “Lioness,” in a London recording studio. The album’s producer, Salaam Remi, was present, introducing seven of the new songs. Several of them are polished versions of earlier demos with Remi adding back-up vocals and other instrumental tracks to fill out the sound. Remi defended his process, saying it was what he’d …More

Germany Threatens to Deny Submarine Sale to Israel

Germany has threatened to suspend the delivery of a nuclear-capable Dolphin submarine to Israel in protest of the country’s settlement policy. Government sources confirmed to German daily Der Spiegel on Sunday that Berlin may withhold the commissioned submarine until Israel freezes settlement construction in Gilo. Israel already owns three operational Dolphin submarines, and two more are being built in Germany’s harbor city Kiel. A sixth submarine, the deal for which was made earlier this year, could …More

No Plans for Presidential Visit to Israel in First Term

Since his inauguration, Jewish leaders have pressed President Barack Obama to make a trip to Israel to repair and reaffirm his relationship with America's Middle Eastern ally. But as his first term comes to a close, expectations of a trip similarly diminish. Supporters and Jewish leaders mourn the missed opportunity for a president whose commitment to Israel has been questioned to assuage all doubts on the matter. “It is an error,” former New York Mayor Ed Koch said to Politico. Koch recently …More

Judge Goldstone Says Israel not an Apartheid State

Judge Richard Goldstone, who headed the United Nations investigation of Israel and Hamas for war crimes after their 2008 conflict, declared in a recent New Times column that Israel is not an apartheid state. “While ‘apartheid’ can have broader meaning, its use is meant to evoke the situation in pre-1994 South Africa. It is an unfair and inaccurate slander against Israel, calculated to retard rather than advance peace negotiations,” Goldstone wrote, adding that he, a member of South …More

Roman Abramovich Defends Himself in Court

The notoriously private Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich broke his silence by testifying in his recent court case. Abramovich, who is Jewish, is currently being sued for $6.5 billion by Boris Berezovsky, a former business partner who says Abramovich scammed him out of his shares in the companies they founded together. During his testimony, Abramovich described the story of his business success, starting with him selling rubber ducks at a toy company he founded and ending with his current role as the head of a …More
