Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened more force if rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel does not cease. [Sydney Morning Herald] Meanwhile, a rocket landed this morning in a Negev kibbutz. [Times of Israel]

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to help un-stall the peace process in the Middle East. Putin is currently in Israel as part of a diplomatic visit. [Daily Star] At the same time, Russia announced a $1 million prize to be awarded for Jewish achievements in arts and sciences, a further display of growing ties between the countries.
