Billionaire Sheldon Adelson has announced he’s willing to spend $100 million to force Barack Obama out of the White House.
Adelson, a Jewish businessman worth a reported $25 billion, made the admission in an interview with Forbes. The casino mogul recently donated $10 million to GOP candidate Mitt Romney’s Super PAC, proving Adelson can put his money where his mouth is.
Adelson told writer Steven Bertoni that his contributions to Romney’s campaign could potentially be “limitless,” at one point using the $100 million figure. Analysts have already broken out their calculators to figure the hard numbers: If Adelson were indeed to donate $100 million, it would be the equivalent of a $250,000 income family donating $1,000. Similarly, his $10 million contribution is the same as an individual earning $100,000 a year contributing just $40.
The entrepreneur previously donated $21.5 million to Newt Gingrich’s Republican primary bid and was noted as singlehandedly prolonging the campaign trail through his continued funding.
Adelson is a loyal supporter of Israel and has said he’s backing the Republican ticket to prevent a socialized America.
