Actor and sports memorabilia collector (we bet that’s not the only thing he’s been collecting) Charlie Sheen denies that he is the new owner of American football star Lawrence Taylor’s 1991 Super Bowl ring.
Taylor was awarded the ring as a member of the winning New York Giants team (the score was 20-19, in case you cared) in Tampa, FL. He passed on his diamond-studded gold band to his son, Lawrence Taylor, Jr.
Today, Taylor, Jr. decided to sell the ring (we’re sure his dad must be so happy) to a mystery bidder at a sale by SCP Auctions bosses. Soon after, reports surfaced that Sheen placed the top bid.
Taylor’s agent, Mark Lepselter, fueled the fire by responding to a fan’s tweet, saying:
Sheen responded to the claims, saying:
So contrary to popular belief, he did not pay more than $230,000 for the ring.
We wonder how much he spent on rings for Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller?
J-Connection: Charlie Sheen is Jewish through his mother's side and his ex-wife Brooke Mueller is also Jewish.
