We always knew Jack Black had musical talent, and now that extends to the Hebrew lyrical tradition, too.

In a recent interview with Conan O'Brien, Jack told the TV host he would do just about anything to get his kids into a good school. In one instance, that meant trying to wheedle his boys into a prestigious Hebrew institution, prompting Black to pull out all the Jewish tools he had.

“I am a Jew, technically. I’m allowed to take my kids there, and my wife is too, but also we have not been to synagogue for years,” he said. “But I was kind of feeling the pressure to show that I’m a good Jew.”

Jack’s answer? Sing a bit of the Pesach favorite “Chad Gadya,” of course.

We have to say, the funnyman’s rendition is pretty good, though we suspect he added an unnecessary –d sound to the end of that last gadya. No bother...it can be overlooked for a man who can turn lyrics like “F*@$ Her Gently” into a stunningly sentimental verse. Plus, the 42-year-old christened the goat-centric tune as the first heavy metal song, so we figure he gets a pass.

J-Connection: Jack Black is Jewish, despite how long he’s avoided the inside of a synagogue.
