Joan Rivers made a scene at a Burbank, California Costco store yesterday as she protested the banning of her book, “I Hate Everyone…Starting With Me.”
The comedienne went to the store, armed with a box of books and a bullhorn and set out on a mission to have her book sold at the supermarket giant.
She reportedly began her antics by selling copies of her book outside of the Costco location. She then decided to go inside and handcuff herself to a shopping cart.
After approximately a half hour of Rivers’ antics of yelling and cuffing, the cops were called. However, she complied with them and no charges were filed.
She later told ABC News “So Costco, who sells condoms by the pallet, who sells Paula Deen books and - which is not good for their customers' health - they decided to ban my book... This is a First Amendment violation... This is a store that sells 300 rolls of toilet paper at the same time, and I say any customer that buys 300 rolls of toilet paper deserves a funny book to sit on the toilet and read."
She attempted to prove her point by taking a stab at a popular erotica book that Costco sells, saying:
Rivers later told KTLA that “People should have the write to have the literature they want. This is the beginning of Nazi Germany.”
Just a thought – if Costco is Hitler beginning his reign in Nazi Germany – what does that make Victoria’s Secret?
Yes, you read that question right. Rivers announced plans to protest the popular lingerie chain next after thanking her fans.
We wonder which location she’ll be at – we want be there to see her in action!
