Singer/actor Lenny Kravitz is now also a shoe designer after creating a new line for TOMS Shoes.
Although Kravitz initially said that the espadrilles reminded him of “the shoes my mom would wear in the ‘70s,” he designed a line of shoes with different patterns for the brand. One print even sports the lyrics from his song “Let Love Rule.”
He can thank his daughter Zoe for his collaboration–she urged him to sign up with TOMS because she’s a big fan of their flats.
And who wouldn’t be? Bosses at the US firm donate shoes to needy children for every pair sold. That’s reason enough for us to like the brand.
After working with the brand, Kravitz now stocks pairs of TOMS for guests to wear when they visit his home, where regular street shoes are banned because he “doesn’t want to bring in things from the outside” (something our mom has always told us too). His nice floor coverings, which he likes to roll around on, may also have something to do with it. We're only judging him a little.
But we’re assuming Kravitz has lots of guests over, so we’re content with the fact that there won’t be a child in need of shoes for a very long time.
J-Connection: Kravitz's father was of Russian Jewish descent. He definitely didn't wear TOMS.
