Romney Changes Jerusalem Dinner Date for Jewish Fasting Day

Mitt Romney’s dinner fundraiser in Jerusalem has been moved from July 29 to July 30 to abide by the fast of Tish’a B’Av.

The event was originally to be held this Sunday, the last day of the fast. However, the invitation said the dinner did not begin until 9:30 pm, which would be more than an hour after the fast ends.

The Huffington Post originally reported that the Romney campaign team cancelled the event after realizing its mistake. Later, Romney’s staff announced the event was not cancelled, but due to take place at a pushed back time. Now, it is reported that the fundraiser will continue at the King David Hotel on a different date altogether.

Other changes have also been made to the event. Instead of Romney only appearing for 45 minutes, he will meet with donors for two hours and pose for photographs as well.

Sheldon Adelson, a billionaire Casino mogul and avid Republican supporter, will also make an appearance at the event.

The price for the event remains the same – either $50,000 a donor or a minimum of $100,000 raised.
