A strong majority of Americans view Israel favorably, according to a new poll by the Foreign Policy Initiative.
The study found that 70 percent of Americans gave a favorable response when asked about the Jewish state. Similarly, 81 percent of conservatives back Israel, with 68.5 percent of moderates and 63 percent of liberals reporting the same.
Moreover, Israel was named as the US’s second strongest supporter. When asked who the nation’s best ally was, 15.9 percent answered the Jewish state, second only to the UK.
When asked which country poses the biggest threat to America, Iran took the top spot, with 45.1 percent of the vote. And only 28.6 percent said the US is spending too much on defense.
