Listen closely, and Stephen Colbert will recall how the Israelites were enslaved for forcing the Egyptians to provide complete contraceptive coverage. God heard the Jews groaning, and said, “Mishpochah! What’s the matter?” Then came the gift of frogs, for as Colbert astutely observes, they’re not really a plague.
Colbert calls out Jonathan Safran Foer for thinking he can improve on Moses with his new book, “The New American Haggadah.” Colbert displays some impressive knowledge of the Tribe, boasting, “I knew it was Passover, that’s why we have an extra chair here for Elijah, in case he shows up.”
Safran Foer does manage to interject a wonderful and historically based reason for releasing a new version of the Haggadah between all the four question and matzah ball jokes, but we all know his real motive.
Everyone at a sedar gets their own copy. “Cha-ching!”
