The Norwegian ambassador to Israel, Svein Sveje, has gone out of his way to emphasize the difference between the attacks on Norway by Breivik, who killed 76 people in a shooting spree and bomb attack, and the terrorist attacks on Israel by Hamas. When news of the terrorist attack on Norway broke, the first thing I thought was, “why would anyone attack Oslo?” Then I tensed up, praying that it wasn’t a Muslim who did it. Israel has extended offers of help to the government of Norway after a shooting spree at a Norwegian Labor party summer camp and a bomb attack in Oslo left up to 98 people dead in an act of domestic terrorism. It took an hour and a half for a police SWAT team from Oslo to arrive at the camp, located about 19 miles away from the city center, to seize the alleged gunman Anders Behring Breivik.
