CUNY Creates Separate Designation for Jewish Faculty

The City University of New York's creation of a new faculty demographic category of White/Jewish has angered some university faculty. Both Jewish and non-Jewish faculty are upset, according to the New York Post. The category for the university's new Demographic Action Plan, issued last month by CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein, is meant to assist in boosting the recruitment of minorities to serve on the CUNY faculty. Brooklyn College Provost Cleared of Anti-Semitic Accusations

An investigation into a Brooklyn College provost was put to rest, after officials determined William Tramontano did not purposely block promotions for Orthodox Jewish staff. The academic head of Brooklyn College is facing a firestorm following accusations of anti-Semitic hiring practices. CUNY Blocks Honor for Tony Kushner

Amid calls from CUNY faculty and staff members for the board to reverse its decision, Mr. Kushner said in an interview that he believed the trustees had slandered him and owed him an apology.
