Senate Unanimously Approves Tougher Stance on Iran

The US Senate voted unanimously Wednesday to urge tighter sanction enforcement on Iran over its continued progress in nuclear proliferation. The resolution calls on President Barack Obama to strengthen the enforcement of already existing sanctions on the Islamic republic, and states that the US should back the Jewish state should Israel have to defend itself from a nuclear assault by Iran. “[The U.S. government should] stand with Israel and provide, in accordance with United States law and the …More

Britain’s Foreign Minister William Hague met with Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel today, vowing his nation would “never give in” to terror. US Assures Israel on Iran with Upgraded Bunker Busters

US officials allegedly told Israel that the United States has improved weapons capable of destroying Iran's underground nuclear site in Fordow. The Wall Street Journal, quoting unnamed American officials, reported Thursday that the United States had assured Israel that advanced features added to its bunker buster bombs vastly improved its ability to destroy underground facilities. The Journal reported that the United States hopes the improved Massive Ordnance Penetrator, or MOP, will serve to convince Israel to …More

Iran to Cross 'Red Line' This Summer, Israel's Ex-Military Chief Says

Iran will cross Israel's "red line" for nuclear proliferation by this summer, Israel's former director of military intel said. "In the summer, Iran will be a month or two away from deciding about a bomb,” Amos Yadlin said Tuesday. "We have about two months to sleep soundly, until the [Iranian] elections. After that, I believe the Iranians will have to make a difficult decision." Yadlin was speaking at a conference run by Tel Aviv University’s Institute for National Security Studies, on which he …More

Hagel in Israel: 'Israel Will Make the Decision it Must to Protect Itself'

US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel began a Middle East tour yesterday with a first stop in Israel, discussing Iran’s nuclear proliferation and a $10 billion arms deal between America and Israel and Arab nations. Upon landing, Hagel reiterated the US stance that Israel has the right to defend itself, including the autonomy to decide for itself when and if to strike Iran in hopes of fending off a nuclear attack. “Israel will make the decision that Israel must make to protect itself, to defend …More

Iran TV Warns of Israeli Nuclear Plant Dangers Hours Before Quake

Just hours before a powerful earthquake hit near Iran’s nuclear city Busheshr, Press TV reported Israel’s Dimona power plant posed a great risk to the environment of the region. The state owned English language media corporation, headquartered in Tehran, has in the past called Dimona “the Middle East’s time bomb” and warned that Israel’s reactor “spreads cancer and sterility in the Middle East.” In an April 9 report, Press TV quoted Professor Uzi Even, formerly of …More

Poll: Majority in US Would Consider Military Action to Stop Iran

The US public strongly favors considering military action against Iran to prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon, a recent poll found. A Pew Research Center poll conducted March 13-17 found that 64 percent of Americans agree that it is "more important to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons even if it means taking military action," as opposed to 25 percent who believe it is "more important to avoid military conflict even if Iran may develop nuclear weapons." The poll of 1,501 adults also found that …More

Satellite Images Show Operational Iranian Nuclear Plant

Iran has activated its Arak heavy-water production plant, satellite images published by Britain’s Daily Telegraph show. The photographs, taken February 9, show a cloud of steam indicating heavy-water production at the Arak plant. Heavy water is necessary to operate a nuclear reactor capable of producing plutonium, which can be used to make a bomb. Stuart Ray of McKenzie Intelligence Services, a consultancy firm, analyzed the images. "The steam indicates that the heavy-water plant is operational and the …More

Robert Oppenheimer: The Father of the Atomic Bomb

Robert Oppenheimer may be remembered as “the father of the atomic bomb,” but he is also remembered as one of Judaism’s most enduring physicists. Born in 1904 in New York City, Oppenheimer was interested in several areas of science as a young boy. He became particularly interested in chemistry prior to his high school graduation, before enrolling at Harvard to major in the field. During his freshman year, he was elevated to graduate status in physics, thanks to an independent study initiative he …More

Iran May Be Trying to Buy More Diplomatic Time

According to diplomats from the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran has resumed converting small amounts of enriched uranium into nuclear fuel, which may signal that the Muslim theocracy is trying to buy more time for diplomacy. Iran made a similar maneuver last year by converting around 100 kg of its 20 percent enriched uranium to fuel. Last week, experts at a Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) conference on Iran stated that at the current …More
