Swedish Jewish Center Bombed Last Night

A Jewish community building in Sweden was bombed last night. Two 18-year-old suspects have already been arrested in connection with the attack. The center, located in the small Swedish town of Malmo, came as the area faces rising anti-Semitic tensions against the 700-strong Jewish community. SWC Praises French Interior Minister on Defense of Jews

The Simon Wiesenthal Center applauded the French interior minister’s commitment to the defense of Jews, following a violent attack on a Jewish business. In a letter to Manuel Valls, SWC’s international relations director, Dr. Shimon Samuels, praised the minister’s pledge "to the defense of the French Jewish community in particular, and all other victims of hate-crime in general." Lithuanian Holocaust Survivor Wins Prestigious German Honor

A Lithuanian literature professor—who is also a Holocaust survivor—is a recipient of this year’s Goethe Medal. Irena Veisaite, 84, has spent her time since the end of World War II working to benefit the community at large, through societies she founded like the Lithuanian Soros Foundation, as well as her literary work. 87-Year-Old Nazi Suspect Could Be Tried in Germany

An 87-year-old Nazi suspect could be brought to trial in Germany. A German prosecutor’s office announced Wednesday it had recommended charges be brought against the suspect, under suspicion that he served as a concentration camp guard in Poland. The unnamed man currently lives outside Germany, and a trial would require his extradition. The individual in question is accused of involvement in 344,000 deaths at Auschwitz.
