Report: 88 Percent of Jerusalem Residents Love Their City

More young people are choosing to live in Jerusalem than in recent years. The data was released this week by the Central Bureau of Statistics in honor of Jerusalem Day, which will be celebrated tomorrow. The report also showed signs that the city is on an upward track in regard to population as well as attractiveness as a place of residence. No Terrorist Fatalities in West Bank in 2012

Israel’s 2012 report on terrorist activity lists no Israeli fatalities in the West Bank or Jerusalem for the first time in four decades. The report, released Jan. 24 by Israel’s domestic intelligence agency, Shin Bet, says 1973 was the last year no such casualties were recorded. Attacks inside Israel claimed the lives of 10 Israelis in 2012, a 55 percent drop in the number of fatalities compared to the previous year, according to news accounts of the Shin Bet report. Rate of Jewish Birth Increases in Israel, While Arab Rates Decline

Jewish rates of birth grew in Israel in 2011, while Arab birth rates declined. The news was announced this week by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics, which also stated that 75.4 percent of Israel’s nearly 8 million population is Jewish. Jewish women averaged 2.98 births in 2011, as compared to 2.53 in 1995. Among Muslim women, the figure was at 3.51 in 2011, as opposed to 4.74 in 2000. The median age for the Jewish population is the oldest among religions in the world, a new study by the Pew Forum discovered. The average age for Jews globally was found to be 36, higher than any other faith. Muslims had the lowest average age, at 23, while Christians came in at 30. Report: English Jewry Stable Over Past Decade, Orthodox Sector Growing

England's Jewish population has remained stable over the past decade, bolstered by Orthodox Jewry's growth, according to an analysis of government data. Data released Dec. 11 by Britain’s Office for National Statistics showed 263,346 Jews living in England and Wales, a figure that can be adjusted upward to approximately 284,000, according to an analysis by the Institute for Jewish Policy Research and the Board of Deputies of British Jews. Statistics Show Jewish Growth for New Year

Just in time for the new year, a study put out by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics reveals growing Jewish populations in both the US and Israel. The Jewish community numbers 13.7 million worldwide, making up 0.2 percent of the total population. Of that figure, a staggering 82 percent live in either the US or Israel.
