Jewish Community ‘Vigilant’ in Wake of Boston Bombings

The head of the security network for US Jewish organizations said the community is "standing vigilant" following bombings at the Boston Marathon. Two people were killed and more than 30 injured in two blasts at the marathon on Monday, according to reports. One of the bombs exploded at the finish line. "We know that unfortunately 30 percent of terrorist attacks had Jewish institutions as secondary targets," said Paul Goldenberg, director of the Secure Community Network. Shin Bet: Hamas Looking to Step up Terror Attacks

Hamas is looking to increase suicide bomb efforts, rocket attacks and the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers, particularly in the West Bank, according to a report by Israel’s domestic security agency, the Shin Bet. “On the surface, the four-month truce between Israel and Hamas appears to be holding well since the cessation of last year’s eight day conflict, but behind the scenes, senior Hamas officials in Gaza are increasing their efforts to carry out deadly attacks on Israelis,” the Shin Bet …More

Greenpeace Warns That Israel Needs to Diversify Energy Sources

Greenpeace officials warn that Israel’s power grid remains vulnerable. Prompted by the recent threat made by Hezbollah Chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, the green group insists that unless Israel diversifies its power mainframe, the power infrastructure remains at risk. In his videotaped Martyr’s Day address on Saturday, Nasrallah boasted a few missiles would “plunge Israel into darkness.” Warning that Israel could expect retribution for any “violation that occurs on Lebanese …More

Hezbollah Denies Involvement in Burgas Attack

Hezbollah denied it was involved in a terrorist attack in Bulgaria that killed six, including five Israelis. Two days after the Bulgarian government implicated two men with links to Hezbollah to the terrorist attack last July, deputy Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said Thursday that Israel is making "allegations and incitements and accusations against Hezbollah" because it has not succeeded in defeating it militarily, Reuters reported. "Israel is leading an international campaign to intimidate people and countries …More

On Campus, Peering into the Life of a Suicide Bomber

Like their peers on other campuses, pro-Israel students at the University of Minnesota are always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to expose their campuses to Israel. Sometimes, a party that highlights Israeli culture or a speaker who stresses Israel’s right to exist can prove effective, but the leaders of Students Supporting Israel at the University of Minnesota (SSI), CAMERA and Minnesotans Against Terrorism are hoping to strike a nerve when they bring an expert on suicide bombing to campus. Dr. …More

Terror in Tel Aviv: Bomber Targets Bus, 21 Wounded

Just as a diplomatic solution to the eight-day conflict between Israel and Gaza seemed near, a bomb exploded on a civilian bus in the heart of Tel Aviv, injuring at least 21. The incident is confirmed as a terror attack, the city’s first since 2006. Commissioner Yohanan Danino said that police are searching for the explosive device, which officials believe was planted under one of the middle seats of the bus.
