Chief Rabbi Fights Israel's Plan to Fund Non-Orthodox Rabbis

The chief rabbinate of Israel called an emergency meeting over the weekend, to discuss counteraction plans against the Jewish state’s plan to fund non-Orthodox rabbis. The decision to employ Reform and Conservative rabbis with state money was met last month with derision by the religious right. Anti-Zionist vandalism at Yad Vashem has drawn suspicion of involvement by the haredim. Grafitti was found at 12 different spots on the grounds of the historic Holocaust trust in Jerusalem.
