Los Angeles teenager Jake Davidson has the same fear as every other like-minded high school senior: going to prom alone. But unlike his friends, Davidson has aimed a little higher than head cheerleader. In a YouTube video to 21-year old super model Kate Upton, the apparently fearless young man made a case with confident coolness as to why she should accompany him to the senior prom. “You had me at ‘hello,’ you are the ying to my yang. I’m Jewish, 5’9” on a really good day, and …More

Sarah Silverman has a new project, and we’re not entirely sure what it is. Sarah has teamed up with Michael Cera, comedy duo Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, and rap comic Reggie Watts to create JASH, a new channel on YouTube. As far as we can tell, this seems to be a collection of comedy videos akin to Funny or Die. The comics plan to curate and produce new sketch videos on the channel, ranging from a mock film noir preview by Silverman to a 25-minute short film by Cera. "We each have pages within Jash …More

A Web of Hate: European, US Laws Clash on Defining and Policing Online Anti-Semitism

Alina Dain Sharon, JNS.org Last October, the hashtag #unbonjuif (#agoodjew) was trending as the third-most tweeted subject in France. Users jumped on the chance to tweet phrases like “a good Jew is a dead Jew,” ultimately forcing the French Jewish students’ union (UEJF) to file a lawsuit against Twitter for allowing that content to appear. When a French court decided this January that Twitter must reveal the identities of users who sent out those anti-Semitic tweets, a cross-continental debate …More

20 Years On, El Al Crash in Amsterdam Still Spawns Conspiracy Theories

Chemical weapons, nuclear debris and Mossad agents in biohazard suits all have played prominent roles in the dozens of conspiracy theories surrounding the crash of an El Al airplane in Amsterdam 20 years ago this month. But Rob Oudkerk, vice chairman of the Dutch parliament’s inquiry into the deadly crash, has studied and dismissed them all. In a recent interview for a Dutch TV documentary, members of Oudkerk’s commission of inquiry reiterated their conclusions: The Israeli cargo plane malfunctioned …More

Gal Gadot Censored in Racy YouTube Video (VIDEO)

Gal Gadot is notorious for being just a little too racy, but her new viral YouTube videos have brought people to their limit. In her viral video to the single “Lie” by Noy Alooshe and Saar Badishi posted on July 31, she’s wearing only a bra – which she’s clearly fine with. YouTube, on the other hand, isn’t. They’ve restricted her video to registered users who confirm they’re old enough to view the video. Awkward for those underage Israeli boys. But they …More

A marriage proposal is something between two lovers, their 60 closest friends, and more than six million YouTube viewers. What appeared to many to be some terribly clever guerilla advertising for the Honda CRV is, in fact, the greatest and worst proposal ever documented on film. Portland actor Isaac Lamb posted a six-minute video of his lip-dub proposal to then-girlfriend Amy Frankel online on Friday. He thought only friends and family would watch the performance of “Marry You” by Bruno Mars. …More
